How I Work: ACT, Mindfulness, and Therapy That Fits You

My approach is warm, collaborative, and holistic. I draw on a variety of evidence-based methods—including ACT, mindfulness, and compassion-focused work—and adapt them to fit your unique self.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is at the heart of how I work. It helps you make room for difficult thoughts and feelings without letting them make your decisions, and get clear on what matters most to you. Then we take small, practical steps in that direction.

Mindfulness-rooted work

Mindfulness means paying attention to the present moment on purpose, without judging what you find. In sessions, it gives you ways to slow racing thoughts, notice what your body is telling you, and come back to yourself when stress pulls you away.

Understanding yourself, and living like it

I want to help people find the courage to understand themselves, and to bring their inner self into line with their everyday life and routines. Much of our work is closing the gap between who you are inside and how your days actually go.

Adapted to fit you

I don't expect the same method to work for every person. I blend evidence-based approaches — ACT, mindfulness, compassion-focused work, and more — and adapt them to fit you, your goals, and how you actually think and feel.

The approaches I draw on

  • Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
  • Compassion Focused
  • Culturally Sensitive
  • Emotionally Focused
  • Humanistic
  • Mindfulness-Based (MBCT)
  • Person-Centered
  • Strength-Based

Questions about how I work

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you make room for anxious or painful thoughts without letting them run your life, and act on what matters most to you.

Is mindfulness-based therapy the same as meditation?

Not exactly. Meditation can be one mindfulness practice, but in therapy, mindfulness is a set of practical skills for noticing thoughts, feelings, and body sensations as they happen, so you can respond instead of react. You don't need any meditation experience.
