Life Transitions Therapy, Online in New York, Massachusetts, and Florida

I offer online therapy for life transitions to adults located anywhere in New York, Massachusetts, and Florida — for the seasons when life changes faster than you can find your footing. My practice is based in Albany, New York.

Change can shake your sense of who you are

Some transitions are chosen and some aren't. Even good changes can leave you unsteady, because they ask you to let go of one version of your life before the next one feels real. And the hard ones can make it feel like the ground has moved under you.

People often come to me in the middle of changes like these:

  • Starting, changing, or leaving a career
  • Retirement, and the question of what comes next
  • The end of a marriage or relationship
  • Becoming a caregiver for an aging parent or partner
  • Children growing up and leaving home
  • A move, especially one you didn't fully choose
  • The loss of someone close to you
  • A health change that reshapes your daily life
  • A shift in your faith or your sense of purpose

You don't need to be in crisis for any of this to be worth talking about. Sometimes the hardest part is feeling stuck, or quietly wondering who you are now.

Transitions at every stage of adult life

I work with adults of all ages, including elders (65+). Later-life transitions get less attention than they deserve: retirement, losing a spouse or close friends, downsizing a home, or adjusting to changes in independence. These are real turning points, and they deserve the same care and attention as any other. Because sessions are online, you can meet from home anywhere in New York, Massachusetts, or Florida.

How therapy helps during a transition

Transitions usually ask two things of us at once: to grieve what's ending and to make choices about what comes next. Therapy gives you room for both.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and holistic, and I adapt evidence-based methods to fit you:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you get clear on your values, so your next steps are guided by what matters to you rather than by fear or pressure.
  • Strength-based work draws on what has already carried you through hard seasons before.
  • Mindfulness-based work helps you stay steady with uncertainty instead of rushing to resolve it.
  • Person-centered work keeps you, not a script, at the center of our sessions.

Together we'll slow things down, make sense of what the change is stirring up, and work toward a version of your life that feels like yours. If a change has left you without direction, see therapy for purpose and motivation.

When spirituality is part of the picture

Big changes often raise big questions about meaning, purpose, and where you belong. If your faith or spirituality matters to you, it's welcome in our work as a source of grounding — whether a transition has deepened it, tested it, or left you unsure.

Questions about life transitions therapy

What does a life transitions therapist do?

A life transitions therapist helps you through a major change — chosen or not — by making room for what you're losing, sorting through what the change stirs up, and helping you choose your next steps.

Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy for a life change?

No. Many people reach out because a change has left them unsettled, stuck, or unsure of themselves, not because things have fallen apart.

I'm going through a divorce or breakup. Do you see couples?

I work with individuals only, so our sessions focus on you — what you're carrying, what you need, and how you want to move forward.

Do you work with older adults facing retirement or loss?

Yes. I work with adults and elders (65+) located in New York, Massachusetts, or Florida. Sessions are by secure video, so you'll need a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and an internet connection.

Free 15-minute consultation

You don't have to have it all figured out right now. Starting a new path takes just one step, and it can feel so much more doable with support. When you're ready, reach out by call, text, or email — I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, a relaxed chance to share what's on your mind and get a sense for what it could be like working together.
